Boomers Should Test For Hepatitis C

News updates for Boomer Hepatitis C

7-4-2012: Treat now or wait?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is recommending that all Baby Boomers get tested for Hepatitis C (HCV).

According to the CDC, one in thirty boomers is infected with the HCV virus, but most don’t know it.

A Reuters report says Boomers who catch the disease before it causes serious liver damage have effective treatment options available.

What can you do? Get tested. HCV can be identified by a simple, low-cost blood test. Ask your physician about it.

One note of caution, though: Financial analysts say any boomer planning on upgrading existing insurance or qualifying for a new policy should secure the insurance BEFORE getting the test.
